Black Friday Preparations
So as you know we are all preparing for Black Friday - I know I am ready to shop, but I have also been very busy.
I have spent the better part of the last few week preparing for Black Friday and Christmas. Although I have a lot of items in my shop (over 70 items), there is always room for more.
I forgot how much I love making and making and more making. I have been creating these new, but familiar to some of you, collage pieces on birch panels, and as I say with every new collection, I think these are the best.
It’s really all the little details that I love about making these collage pieces on birch panels.
The process is long and very labor intensive, but I am not complaining - I love every minute of creating these pieces.
Whether it’s deciding whether to add a pretty, metal, floral finding to the top, or whether to add words to match the overall theme.
There is always love in the details.
I often spend a lot of time picking just the right item to fill a void on the overall piece.
It has to be just the right piece. Sometimes I put the piece aside till I can figure out what that exact piece is.
Sometimes it’s a tassel, (and I pray I have just the right size in my stash) and sometimes it’s a moss filled nest.
Either way, each piece is a joy to complete.
I have to say, the last step is always the words. It sounds corny but I always wait til the piece is finished to know what it is trying to say ; )
Finally I apply 6-10 coats of gel medium (varnish) to make the colors come alive (and to make sure that all those tiny bits are on for life!).
