My Blog

A place where I share my process, my work, ideas and have conversations with like minded souls.

Who knows where inspiration comes from...

I have been on a creative roll. Inspired by things around me, by my new cleaned up studio, by color, by just about everything.

I walked into my studio this morning with full intention of working on something specific.

I wanted to do a bit of cleaning up first as I had magazines hanging around and other “debris” that I wanted to organize. As I grabbed the magazines to put them in their rightful place, a page that I had torn out fell onto my desk.

Well, that’s all it took! The beautiful colors, the image, immediately made me want to create.

I pulled out a long narrow tin, cut the page down to the size of the top of the tin and adhered it with Golden matte medium. The result was instant satisfaction.

The page is from an issue of Country Living Magazine. I tried to track down the issue it was from based on other pages I had torn out but could not find the information. All I could find at the bottom of this page was that it was Country Living. And if I remember right it was from a Special Issue.

I knew the inside had to be as beautiful as the outside. I dug into my “stash”, found a mini easel and was off!

I created a mini vignette right inside the tin which contains artwork I love sitting right on the mini easel which is well worn with paint splotches!

The other side of the tin (the inside of the top of the tin) is collaged and aged with text paper and a special quote.

Of course, once I started, there was no stopping me, so I created this tin:

And then this one:

So now these three pieces are in the shop. With lots more pictures of all the details.

I almost cannot bear to part with the first one as I love it so much - but I will.
